This study examines the development and evolution of leadership in Islamic missionary institutions, highlighting the crucial role of leaders in spreading Islamic teachings and guiding the community. The concept of Islamic missionary leadership is defined as the ability to lead, motivate, and direct individuals or groups towards predetermined Islamic missionary goals. Islamic missionary leaders are expected to have characteristics such as trustworthiness, knowledge and expertise, strength, humility, tolerance, patience, truth, justice, trustworthiness, deliberation skills, intelligence, and broad insight. This document also distinguishes between Islamic missionary management leadership (as an organizational manager) and Islamic missionary leadership (as a da'i trait). Analysis of leadership types in Islamic missionary institutions identifies transactional, transformational, participatory, and authoritarian leadership, as well as their implications for institutional performance. In facing the digital era and the industrial revolution 4.0, Islamic missionary leaders are required to adapt to the character of the digital generation who are communicative, open, collaborative, and critical. Digital literacy skills (data, technology, and human) are essential for effective communication. This study emphasizes the importance of da'wah leaders being role models, maximizing the use of internet-based media, and having digital literacy to achieve da'wah effectiveness in the modern era
